Situation one

If David Cameron decided that the Government would give you £20 for every GCSE you achieve at one grade above your target grade – would you work harder?
What if he said that he would donate £20 to a charity of your choice instead?

Methods of motivation used by small businesses
Job enrichment and greater responsibility - This means giving
staff more demanding and challenging work to prevent boredom.
It also means providing more authority and responsibility.
Training - An employee might not be able to take on more demanding
work without training. This can show that a business values an
employee and should increase self-esteem.
Working in teams - Developing a team can motivate by creating good
working relationships with other members of staff. Teams can also
be given power to make decisions.
Financial rewards - Motivation can be increased simply by paying an
employee more. It allows the employee to buy nicer homes/cars etc.
However, this isn't always the case.
